Linear Solenoids

In linear solenoids the stroke from the initial position to the end of stroke is made by an electromagnetic force that is created when a voltage is applied to the solenoid. To return to the initial position, external forces or a spring mounted in the solenoid are normally used.

Reversible Linear Solenoids

Reversible linear solenoids feature two coils to give the movement from closed to extended. The voltage is applied and held on one of the two coils to give the back and forth movement of the shaft. Once voltage is removed totally, the shaft will move freely in the solenoid body.

Bistable Latching Solenoids

A bistable latching solenoid allows for the solenoid to be held either open or closed with power removed. The initial stroke is made by electromagnetic forces when the coil is energised. Returning the solenoid shaft requires a reverse polarity together with external forces or a spring mounted inside the solenoid.

Electrical Locking Bolts

Based on standard linear solenoids, the electrical locking bolts feature a modified end cap to offer greater resistance to side loads from external sources, making them ideal for security applications. In linear solenoids the stroke from the initial position to the end of stroke is made by an electromagnetic force that is created when a voltage is applied to the solenoid. To return to the initial position, external forces or a spring mounted in the solenoid are normally used.

Holding Electromagnets

As the name suggests, holding electromagnets give a holding force when either a voltage is applied or removed - depending on model chosen. They are not specifically designed with lifting applications in mind but, if this is required please ask our motors team for advise.

Reversible Bistable Solenoids

The reversible bistable solenoid features two coils that are energised to move the shaft. Reversing the polarity will reverse the position and the magnet in the coils wil hold the shaft in position when power is removed.
